From no fewer than an astounding 57 contenders, the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU), the Netherlands Academy of Technology and Innovation (AcTI) and Techleap have nominated 20 academic startups to compete in the finals of the second edition of the Academic Startup Competition. The level of the applications was very high, but finally the most ground-breaking and innovative academic startups were indeed selected to compete to become ‘Best academic start-up in the Netherlands’.

The competition aims to accelerate transforming technologies into successful business opportunities and push the scalability of the technology. The ASC fits perfectly with the ambition of VSNU and Techleap.nl to become the fastest-growing ecosystem for academic startups in Europe.

Een vakjury heeft in bijzijn van staatssecretaris van Economische Zaken en Klimaat, Mona Keijzer, uit 28 genomineerde startups de 10 winnaars bekendgemaakt van de Academic Startup Competition. De 10 startups mogen pitchen op de Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) en krijgen van het Ministerie van EZK een reis naar Silicon Valley aangeboden. Daar leren zij hoe ze hun innovatie sneller kunnen opschalen en zo de stap van startup naar scale-up kunnen zetten.
