VSNU, Techleap.nl and AcTI, the Netherlands Academy of Engineering organise the second edition of the Academic Startup Competition
The Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) has teamed up with Techleap.nl and AcTI, the Netherlands Academy of Engineering to organise the second edition of the Academic Startup Competition (ASC). The competition aims to accelerate transforming technologies into successful business opportunities and push the scalability of the technology. The ASC fits perfectly with the ambition of VSNU and Techleap.nl to become the fastest-growing ecosystem for academic startups in Europe.
Science and entrepreneurship combined are creating innovative solutions to global challenges. Academic startups develop the next generation of essential breakthrough technologies. The competition offers the selected academic startups the chance to showcase themselves to an audience of (international) investors and businesses. The startups will participate in an intensive two-day program of workshops, mentorship and peer-to-peer learning to help the founders to accelerate the growth and scalability of their business. The 10 winning academic startups will win an incubation program to the United States organised together with the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate policy. The startups will be introduced to the academic ecosystem and networks of local-based (Dutch) entrepreneurs, (international) investors and corporates. They will learn about the latest technology and business innovations in their area of focus, along with how to do business across the United States.
Academic startups, that fulfil the criteria, can sign up for the competition by filling in this form. The application deadline is March 15. 25 startups will be selected to participate in a two-day training program on April 22 (location t.b.c.) and on June 17 at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The second day will end with the festive announcement of the ten winning startups.
